Welcome to Fort Ord, now often referred to as the Ord Military Community (OMC). I moved here in November 2009, and have been slowly but surely working my way around the neighborhood, gathering bits of information here and there. Since most families at OMC have a service member at the Presidio of Monterey (POM), probably learning a language, OMC is a unique environment. There are all branches of government, spread out among a number of development communities (The Parks) run by the Pinnacle Management Company. This might be your first stop, if like my family, this is your service member's MOS (aka job) school. You might be a weathered military family but haven't been to Monterey and don't know where to go for basics or for fun. Either way, this blog should help. Thanks for this and for all the props you are giving to the Mayoral Program. We are trying to get people more involved and if you know willing volunteers send them our way!
