There are a variety of Financial Help options at Fort Ord. If your spouse is at DLI and will be getting military clearance, one of the major reasons people's clearance does not go through is for financial reasons, so being financially solvent is more important with this MOS than with others. Newly married? Student loans? Credit card debt? Go visit Cliff, the Budget guru. My husband went to visit him and he was able to help us figure out how to clear up our credit card debt and set up a savings plan before year's end. It was pretty incredible.
He's also the person you go to when you have an emergency expense. Plane tickets to visit an ill family member, food money because of problems processing your spouse's paycheck, and other emergency expenses are reasons to visit Cliff as well. There are a variety of programs that can help you including no interest loans or some grants depending on the emergency situation. Don't just put it on your credit card if you don't have to!
