Great Hotel Deals

The Pyramid Hotel group is showing some AWESOME support for military and their families this whole year. They are offering 50% off hotel room rates at participating hotels. For our anniversary, we visited the Beverly Heritage Hotel in Milpitas (about 10 minutes drive from San Jose). The hotel was amazing and it was $44 per night. Looking for the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving in San Francisco, the Hilton Hotel IN Fisherman's Wharf is $84.00 per night. Most San Francisco hotels are $200 plus per night. The Marine Corps Hotel offers great rates in the heart of the city as well, but I find they are always booked.

The Pyramid group is offering this at 36 participating hotels nationwide, so as you search for holiday lay-over or romantic get-a-way nights, visit the list of participating hotels by clicking here. You will get a much nicer hotel for the same price as a budget motel. It is really a great deal!

SAVE SAVE SAVE

Oh yes, if you are like me, adjusting to a single person income, or if you are like most military families making more with less, my friend just sent me a link to a site that aggregates coupons available for military families (and some that are publicly available). The blogger is located in Fort Bragg so you'll have to reset the circulars to the Monterey area, but this site beats having to go to individuals sites hunting coupons. So enjoy and keep that extra money you save to get a little something nice for yourself. You deserve it!

The Budget Guru

There are a variety of Financial Help options at Fort Ord. If your spouse is at DLI and will be getting military clearance, one of the major reasons people's clearance does not go through is for financial reasons, so being financially solvent is more important with this MOS than with others. Newly married? Student loans? Credit card debt? Go visit Cliff, the Budget guru. My husband went to visit him and he was able to help us figure out how to clear up our credit card debt and set up a savings plan before year's end. It was pretty incredible.

He's also the person you go to when you have an emergency expense. Plane tickets to visit an ill family member, food money because of problems processing your spouse's paycheck, and other emergency expenses are reasons to visit Cliff as well. There are a variety of programs that can help you including no interest loans or some grants depending on the emergency situation. Don't just put it on your credit card if you don't have to! Cliff can be reached at 831.242.5501.
